WF’s Little Duos, at the moment sherried Aberlour

Aberlour is again once more, as we have simply discovered an outdated official bottle we had by no means written any correct tasting word for. However first, a latest indie because the sparring companion

On the Actual Escuela Andaluza del Arte Ecuestre in Jerez (2022 – WF Archive)

Jerez

Aberlour 9 yo 2013/2022 (47.5%, Carn Mor, Strictly Limited, oloroso sherry, 1798 bottles)

Aberlour 9 yo 2013/2022 (47.5%, Carn Mor, Strictly Restricted, oloroso sherry, 1798 bottles) Four stars

Color: full gold. Nostril: somewhat shoe polish, walnut skins and tomato leaves at first nosing, then moderately chocolate and basic walnut cake. Additionally the same old bitter oranges and a contact of tannic chestnut honey, plus somewhat extra shoe polish, or moderately horse saddle polish since we’re in Jerez, by some means. They’ve superb horses down there, ever been to the Horse Present? It is referred to as Actual Escuela Andaluza del Arte Ecuestre and was based by the Domecq household. It is moderately superb. Mouth: extra on marmalade, with touches of ginger and cloves, and a peppery background. Cinnamon, nutmeg, chilies… The energy is ideal, it drinks properly regardless of the heavyish oak spices. End: uncooked chocolate, marmalade and cloves plus pepper. A salty tang and extra spices but within the aftertaste. Feedback: some punchy spicy sherry, with some sides near the OBs. A’bunadh is not all the time very distant.

SGP:562 – 85 factors.

And in order that older bottle from the cabinets, since we have been mentioning A’bunadh…

Aberlour '100 proof' (57.1%, OB, sherry, +/-1997)

Aberlour ‘100 proof’ (57.1%, OB, sherry, +/-1997) Four stars and a half

I imagine this was a type of  A’bunadh’s prototype bottling. Though I actually appreciated it loads once I first tried it, I’ve simply by no means written any correct notes – or perhaps on the Malt Maniacs’ outdated web site? Fairly probably… Color: gold. Nostril: it is humorous that I might discover somewhat shoe polish once more, however apart from that I am discovering it maltier and extra on desserts and oranges than the same old sherried Aberlours. With water: sherry popping out, walnuts for certain, some lighter pipe tobacco, with a discreet and superior fino character, damp chalk (albariza, naturally) and somewhat paraffin. Mouth (neat): large punch, in your face, with extra earths and rocks than regular, barley, bitter orange aplenty, and even somewhat sugarcane. Is that OBE within the making? With water: glorious, moderately on oranges, roots, lemons, contact of turmeric… And ginger cookies. End: moderately lengthy, with extra oranges, ginger, turmeric, walnuts, wax, and a ‘Highlands’ fashion. Peppery aftertaste. Feedback: I am somewhat stunned, I discover it extra complicated, tighter and deeper than final time. We could test it once more across the yr 2045.

SGP:552 – 88 factors.
